M. Alice O'Connor

Alice O'Connor is a lobbyist in our Madison office. Ms. O’Connor has a wide variety of experiences from press rooms, board rooms and state capitols. She handles simple to complex issues with a diverse client base in areas of business, accounting, retail, law enforcement, tourism, health care, finance, time-share development, local government, utilities, natural gas and non-profits such as Special Olympics. She focuses primarily on public policy making and strategic thinking for advocacy campaigns. She also interacts with the Governor’s office, legislators, multiple state agencies, and county and city governments.

        Alice O'Connor is a presenter for the Badger Speaker School conducting seminars on effective advocacy, presentation skills, public relations, media management and leadership.
 

Ms. O'Connor orchestrated successful statewide grassroots campaigns and conducted hundreds of media events and press conferences on behalf of her client’s advocacy agenda. She previously served as Senior Vice President for the Wisconsin Medical Society and owned and operated her own government relations and grassroots communication firm for more than a decade. She also served on the Wisconsin Secretary’s Department of Workforce Development, Select Committee on Workforce Shortage Issues and the Wisconsin Unemployment Compensation Advisory Council. 

In addition to her current role in the government relations department, Ms. O'Connor serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation, City of Madison Monona Terrace Board of Directors, Wisconsin Women in Government Board and the Badger Chapter Red Cross Marketing Committee. She is also an active member of the Wisconsin Professional Speakers Association, Tempo International, TEMPO and Association of Wisconsin Lobbyists. She is a founder of Wisconsin Women in Government, which provides of thousands of dollars in scholarships to financially needy women.

She has taught Presentation Skills at the UW Law School, UW School of Business Urban Planning and the UW Healthy Leadership Institute. She has created and presented at Leadership Institutes for large healthcare practices throughout Wisconsin.  Ms. O'Connor is extensively involved in community affairs. Communities Health Charities previously recognized her as Volunteer of the Year; the Wisconsin Chapter of the National MS Society named her the Outstanding Advocate of the Year. She also assists with Special Olympics sporting events.

Her other interests include anything with water or snow, traveling, golfing, bicycling and time to cook other than on “high”.
