Mr. Fulton concentrates his practice on representing management interests in labor and employment matters and general commercial litigation disputes. He also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to construction law matters.
Mr. Fulton has experience in a variety of labor and employment-related issues, including collective bargaining, representation, election and unfair labor practice proceedings, grievance arbitrations, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful discharge. He represents clients on these and other matters before administrative agencies, and state and federal trial and appellate courts.
Mr. Fulton also counsels employers and human resource professionals throughout the employment relationship, from the drafting of employee handbooks and policies, to the hiring process and discipline and termination procedures. Clients often find it useful to review two checklists Mr. Fulton has prepared, the "Employment Relations Audit Checklist" and the "Common Employee Handbook Policies" list. Both checklists are available in the publications section of this web site. Due to his work, Mr. Fulton was named by Madison Magazine to its list of "top lawyers." Appointed by former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy G. Thompson, Mr. Fulton recently served as a management representative on the Wisconsin Labor-Management Council. The Council provides a forum for labor and management representatives to discuss issues that affect the states economy and to foster positive labor-management relations in the workplace. Mr. Fulton currently serves on the Wisconsin Literacy board of directors.
Active in several organizations, Mr. Fulton is a member of the American Bar Association sections of labor and employment law, and litigation, as well as the State Bar of Wisconsin sections on labor and employment law, construction and public contract law, and litigation. He often is a contributing author to the firm's newsletter on human resources law, HR Advantage. His most recent article deals with changes in the National Labor Relations Board.
While at law school, Mr. Fulton was executive editor of the Marquette Law Review. He also previously served as the vice president for the Greater Madison Area Society of Human Resource Management.
When not negotiating on behalf of clients, Mr. Fulton enjoys his family and his hobbies which include playing golf, tennis, and basketball.
