Brody C. Richter

Brody Richter is an associate attorney at the law firm’s Madison Office. He concentrates his practice in the areas of business, franchise, real estate and municipal matters. 
 
His business experience is focused on mergers and acquisitions, the creation of business entities, contracts and commercial real estate transactions.  Mr. Richter also has worked with various clients on the creation of franchises, including the drafting of franchise disclosure documents and individual franchise agreements.   He has also worked with various state agencies governing franchises to ensure compliance of disclosure documents with state requirements.
 
Mr. Richter’s real estate practice includes representation of municipalities, private developers, and business entities acquiring or developing real estate.   His work with private clients has included the creation of condominiums, large real property transactions, and negotiating agreements with municipalities.   He also assisted with the siting and development of wind energy systems. 
 
On the municipal side of his practice, Mr. Richter’s experience consists of drafting and revising of ordinances, negotiating and drafting developer’s agreements, assisting with the recodification of ordinances, ensuring compliance with open meetings and public records laws and working with private developers to ensure both compliance with ordinances and responsible development within the municipalities. 
 
Mr. Richter came to Wisconsin as a Law in Action Merit Scholar to attend the University of Wisconsin Law School, from which he graduated in 2006. Prior to coming to Wisconsin for law school,  he received a bachelor’s degree in political science pre-law from Ohio University in Athens.
 
Locally, Mr. Richter enjoys community activities and serves as the law firm's representative to United Way.  He is also a member of the board of directors for the Bartell Theatre, a local community based theater and Chrysalis, a nonprofit organization working with those suffering from mental illness. In addition, Mr. Richter utilizes his experience as a real estate attorney as a member of the Sun Prairie Plan Commission.
 
When not in the office Mr. Richter can be found spending time with his wife,  Angie, and their family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, and participating in just about any sporting activity. He particularly enjoys biking, hiking, and playing, watching, coaching or doing anything associated with ice hockey. Mr. Richter is an avid supporter of the Wisconsin Badgers sports and avails himself of every opportunity to attend games at Camp Randall and the Kohl Center.
