Hugh Hayes has a wealth of experience in his practice areas of family law, real estate, estate planning, probate, and small business.
In family law cases, Mr., Hayes is well known as an advocate for children. Over the years, Dane County judges often have appointed him as a guardian ad litem, for children whose parents are unable to resolve disputes regarding custody and/or physical placement of the children.
Mr. Hayes also has assisted many clients with business transactions involving the sale or purchase of real estate, and the sale or purchase of business assets. He is well versed in establishing LLCs and corporations.
Mr. Hayes enjoys working with his clients to prevent and/or solve problems in their lives. In cases involving children, which are always emotionally charged, he takes great pleasure in advocating on their behalf. This is especially rewarding for him. He wants his clients to know that they arent just another client, or another case. He takes a personal interest in each one, since each is different and has diverse needs and concerns.
Mr. Hayes is a member of the Dane County Bar Association and the Wisconsin Bar Association. For the state bar, he is active in the Family Law; Property, Probate, and Trust Law; and Elder Law sections. Because of his work, Mr. Hayes has been named to the national publication The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Hayes received his Bachelor of Science in foreign services in 1968. He is a 1974 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. When not at the office, Mr. Hayes relishes spending time with his wife, Jackie, and their family. He enjoys reading, playing golf, and visiting scenic Door County.
His personal philosophy is to always keep things in perspective, live life to the fullest, and never wait for the big events to enjoy life and loved ones.
He is a past member of the Madison West Towne-Middleton Rotary Club, Edgewood High School Board of Trustees, Our Lady Queen of Peace school board, past member/chair of the financial council for Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, past member/treasurer/president of the athletic association for Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, a former Cub Scout leader, former West Madison Little League baseball coach, and a former YMCA basketball coach.
