Mindy J. Rowland is a partner in the firm's Madison Office. She focuses her practice on representing companies in employment-related matters with an emphasis in litigation, including disputes regarding restrictive covenants, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour claims, FMLA claims and contract disputes. Ms. Rowland also heads up the Firm's Labor & Employment Relations Practice Group.
Ms. Rowland regularly practices in state and federal courts through the State of Wisconsin, as well as before the Equal Rights Division and the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission. She also has arbitrated several matters before the American Arbitration Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (formerly the National Association for Securities Dealers) and Police and Fire Commissions.
A major case, where Ms. Rowland was counsel, involved a Wisconsin Court of Appeals decision that handed a victory to employers in the area of non-compete agreements. The decision stated that a stock option agreement between an employee and an employer was not subject to Wis. Stat. § 103.465. Click here to view the Decision.
In order to keep her clients abreast of recent developments in employment law, Ms. Rowland is a frequent contributor to the HR Advantage newsletter, a publication prepared by the firm's Labor & Employment Relations Practice Group.
In addition to representing businesses in employment matters, Ms. Rowland assists municipalities with litigation as it arises, and assists health care facilities with their employment needs.
Ms. Rowland is also a featured writer for Continuum, a magazine devoted to assisted living facilities and nursing homes throughout the State of Wisconsin.
Ms. Rowland regularly presents at the Firm's HR Roundtable and other seminars. Recently, she has presented on the following topics:

Because of her work, Ms. Rowland has been designated a Wisconsin Super Lawyer "Rising Star" by Law & Politics magazine.
Aside from representing her clients, Ms. Rowland has served in several capacities for the Legal Association for Women, including President, Treasurer and Special Events Coordinator. In that role, she assists in planning the annual fundraiser for Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, an event that raises money for victims of domestic abuse. In addition, Ms. Rowland served as President of the Middleton Hills Neighborhood Association during 2007 and 2008. She also heads up the Firm's Law Clerk Program, leading the Firm's recruitment, hiring and mentoring of its summer law clerks.
In Ms. Rowland's spare time, she loves playing games with her son and daughter, spending weekends in Okoboji, Iowa at her family's cabin and catching up on the latest technology craze.
