Danny joined DeWitt Ross & Stevens in May 2017 as Foreign Intellectual Property Assistant at our office in Madison. He works closely with our team of attorneys to coordinate the management of intellectual property cases with legal teams all over the world. From trademark registrations in South America to patent prosecution in Asia, Danny acts as our point of contact to firms in over 50 countries and assists our team of attorneys in dealing with the day-to-day work of an international intellectual property practice.
He joined us with 4 years of professional experience at mid-sized law firms in Colombia and Chile, where he gained experience in intellectual property law; and has worked as a research assistant in London, UK. As a proud binational citizen of the United States and Colombia, he is fluent in both English and Spanish, and a believer in the power of international cooperation.
Danny is passionate about intellectual property and the creative industries. He has written papers on non-traditional trademarks, user consent on online advertising, and 3D printing; and was co-author of the book The State of Intellectual Property in Latin America (2012), which he presented as a speaker at events hosted by AMCHAM Colombia and the Argentinian pharmaceutical industry group CEDIQUIFA.
Danny attended the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a scholarship from the Colombian government where he obtained his LLM degree in Intellectual Property Law. He has also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual Property from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile; and a B.A. in Legal Studies from the Pontifical Xavierian University of Colombia. He is licensed to practice law in Colombia and is a member of the International Trademark Association -INTA- since 2012, and has attended the association’s annual meetings in 2013 (Dallas, TX) and 2015 (San Diego, CA).
