Individuals and small businesses turn to Caitlin to handle a variety of legal issues, from simple estate plans to complex litigation. Caitlin works primarily in three areas: trust and estates, general business and litigation.
In the area of estate planning she works closely with individual clients and families to ensure that their wishes, such as where their estates are transferred upon their death, are clearly addressed using a variety of estate planning techniques. She works with her clients to avoid unnecessary gift and estate tax issues, avoid litigation by setting up clear and precise probates, and also guides them through the numerous paths involved in establishing an estate plan that will give the client confidence. Caitlin also works with clients to modify existing estate plans after experiencing a life event, such as a marriage, a new child, or a divorce.
In addition, in the area of business law, Caitlin works with family owned and closely-held businesses on general business matters, from the formation of new companies to complex transactions involving the acquisition of other businesses or real estate. She also assists with employee benefits matters, such as retirement plan compliance issues. Caitlin serves as general counsel to a local internet service company, and works on matters that all businesses encounter, from drafting contracts to advising on employment issues and everything in between. When her clients are faced with litigation, Caitlin has the experience needed to successfully represent companies in several matters, including contract and real estate disputes.
