Kathleen has been involved in assisting clients with various intellectual property litigation and business litigation matters since joining DeWitt Ross & Stevens in March 2007. Practicing in courts across the country, Kathleen has built experience with complex litigation matters mainly involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, as well as tangential issues such as unfair competition and contract disputes, in addition to litigation concerning general business and real estate matters.
She gained valuable experience during a judicial externship for the Honorable Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Building on that experience, she served as a legal intern for the United States Senate, Office of the Legislative Counsel, where she assisted with the drafting of legislation including bills, resolutions, and amendments.

Kathleen works to assist these clients with legal problem-solving and the resolution of disputes through civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution. She has assisted manufacturing companies, retailers, individual and corporate holders of intellectual property, as well as various other individuals and entities in achieving positive results in their legal disputes.

- Obtained a favorable summary judgment opinion and dismissal of a case for a large corporation defending copyright infringement and contract claims.
- Reached favorable settlements in various breach of contract cases for individual and corporate clients.
- Successfully excluded an expert witness on a Daubert motion in a federal lawsuit involving claims of misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, and breach of contract.
- Assisted in patent infringement litigation where the parties reached a resolution of all claims through settlement.
