Bill was a senior trial lawyer in the litigation section of DeWitt. He concentrated his practice in the areas of Employment Law, Commercial Litigation, Plaintiffs’ Personal Injury, and General Civil Litigation.

He was lead counsel for thousands of cases in state and federal courts, including many cases that have involved trials by the court or a jury. He practiced before state and federal district courts, the Minnesota appellate courts, and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. His cases involved a wide variety of business and employment claims, including employment discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of ;non-compete, non-disclosure and other employment agreements, shareholder and contract disputes, ERISA claims, and a wide variety of insurance, professional malpractice and eminent domain claims.

Bill was a certified as a mediator and regularly arbitrated cases for the American Arbitration Association. He routinely counseled employers, prepared and updated employment handbooks, and appeared before administrative agencies with regulatory matters, including professional licensing issues.

In addition to practicing before state and federal courts, and his extensive employment services, Bill was active in pro bono activities, including serving on the Minnesota State Bar Association Civil Litigation Governing Council, the Board of Directors for Central Minnesota Legal Services, the Lawyer Referral Oversight Committee and the Hennepin County Ethics Panel.
